Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sprout have a receptionist?

We actually do not have a receptionist.  When you arrive, please find a comfortable spot to sit (we have two waiting room areas!).  Your child's therapist will come to meet you.

What is your turnaround time for phone calls and emails?

We do our absolute best to return phone calls and emails within 48 hours, depending on holidays and weekends.   Email is often a faster way to connect with your child's therapist.

Do you accept insurance?

At Sprout, we accept the majority of health insurance plans.  We also have a cash rate if you wish to not use your health insurance benefits.  To learn more, please visit our Fees and Forms  page.

How often does my child need to be seen?

There are many factors to consider when discussing frequency of sessions. Your child's therapist will make a plan with you while ensuring that your goals and outside responsibilities are factored in.

What do I do while my child is in their therapy session?

Our waiting room is meant to be a relaxing spot for you to hang out until your child's session is complete.  We welcome you to bring something to read or work on, or simply just be present.

Can my child's younger siblings accompany us and wait in the waiting room?

Absolutely!  We have a variety of toys in either waiting room space for siblings to play with while they wait for the therapy session to finish.   While in the waiting room, please be mindful and respectful of the space, and sessions that are currently in progress.

Do you have an illness policy?

We ask that if your child is ill, or running a fever, that you contact your child's therapist to reschedule their appointment.  A good rule of thumb is "if your child cannot go to school, they cannot come to therapy".

What about a weather related policy?

We will follow both the Sioux Falls and Brandon School District inclement weather procedure.  This means, if weather closes school, Sprout will be closed as well.  If school is delayed, please connect with your child's therapist to confirm if your session time needs to be changed.  We do our best to provide updates on our Facebook page when making last minute weather related decisions.

Do you have a no-show or cancellation policy?

We ask that you please notify your child's therapist, at least 24 hours in advance, when needing to cancel or reschedule a session.  We absolutely understand that children get sick last minute, we just ask that you communicate this with us.  If your child no-shows a session three times, we may be unable to keep them as a client at Sprout.

Do both parents need to provide consent?

At Sprout, if either parent maintains any form of legal decision making for their minor child, we will require that they provide written consent for mental health care.  Therefore, if one parent does not consent to treatment, we will be unable to work with your family.  If you have a legal document stating otherwise in regards to medical decision making, we ask that you provide this.

Does Sprout offer assessments?

We do not offer formal assessments for Attention Deficit Disorder/ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or Autism.  If a formal diagnosis is needed, we will be happy to refer you to the appropriate provider for a full evaluation.
